At Landsmiths, we’ve always believed that great legal advice is delivered by people. However, having the right technology behind the scenes plays an important role in ensuring we can provide the responsive, efficient and seamless service our clients expect.
As the firm continues to grow, we’re committed to investing not only in our people, but also in the technology that supports them.
The latest step in that journey has been the successful implementation of a new cloud-based practice management system, representing one of the firm’s most significant technology investments to date.
While clients may never see the system itself, they will benefit from faster processes, improved communication and a more connected service, allowing our team to spend less time on administration and more time providing expert legal advice.
Building a stronger foundation for growth
Since Landsmiths was established, we’ve continually invested in the business to support our growth and ensure we’re delivering the highest standards of service.
That has included expanding our team, opening our new Leicester office and continually reviewing how technology can help us work more efficiently.
As our business evolved, it became clear that our previous practice management system was no longer keeping pace with our ambitions. Integrating with other specialist legal technologies was becoming increasingly difficult and the platform offered limited scope for future development.
Rather than simply replacing one system with another, we saw this as an opportunity to invest in a modern platform that would support the firm for many years to come.
Putting clients at the heart of the investment
Every technology decision we make is ultimately driven by one question: how will this improve the experience for our clients?
Our new practice management system creates a more connected way of working across the firm, reducing duplication, streamlining administrative processes and enabling information to flow more efficiently between the specialist systems we use every day.
The result is a smoother client journey, from onboarding through to completion, while also giving our lawyers more time to focus on delivering practical, commercially focused advice.
The move also strengthens the resilience and security of our systems through modern cloud-based technology, ensuring we’re well positioned for the future.
A seamless transition
Changing the core technology that underpins a busy law firm is never a simple task, particularly in property law where transactions are often time-critical.
Working closely with legal technology specialists Xperate and Actionstep, we carefully planned every stage of the implementation to ensure the transition was as smooth as possible.
The project, which included migrating data, integrating multiple legal systems, configuring workflows and training the entire team, was successfully completed in just 68 days.

Investing in continuous improvement
The implementation is another example of Landsmiths’ commitment to continuous improvement.
As technology continues to evolve, particularly with developments in artificial intelligence and automation, we’re committed to exploring new opportunities that allow us to improve efficiency while maintaining the personal service that defines our approach.
Having a modern technology platform gives us the flexibility to embrace future innovations as they emerge, ensuring we continue delivering an exceptional experience for our clients.

Rachael Briggs, co-owner and Director, said:
“Technology should support great client service, not complicate it. This investment was about creating a stronger foundation for the future of the firm.
“We wanted a modern, connected platform that would improve the way we work, reduce unnecessary administration and allow our team to focus on what really matters – delivering the best possible outcomes for our clients.
“Completing such a significant project in just 68 days was a fantastic achievement, and we’re already seeing the benefits across the business. Alongside our investment in people and our expansion into Leicester, this demonstrates our ongoing commitment to building a modern, forward-thinking law firm that’s equipped for the future.”
Looking ahead
Our investment in technology is part of a much wider vision for Landsmiths.
As we continue to grow, we’ll keep investing in the people, systems and innovation that enable us to deliver an outstanding service for our clients, while creating a business that’s ready for whatever the future holds.
