Landsmiths retains Tier 2 ranking in the Legal 500 2026.

2 October 2025

Landsmiths is delighted to announce that our Commercial Property team has once again been recognised in the prestigious Legal 500 2026 rankings for Real Estate – Commercial Property: Nottingham and Derby, retaining our Tier 2 ranking.

The Legal 500 is one of the world’s leading independent legal directories. Each year, it undertakes extensive research into the legal market, gathering feedback from clients and peers, and analysing the depth and quality of law firm expertise. Inclusion is based entirely on merit and client satisfaction, making this recognition a true reflection of the work we deliver for our clients.

Our recognition

The Legal 500 highlighted the breadth and quality of our property expertise, noting our work on:

  • Complex transactions, including refinancing, acquisitions, and developments.
  • Acting for a pension fund on the acquisition of a prominent local multi-let building.
  • Supporting a retail client on the acquisition of a new lease on a development site, including planning agreements and warranties.
  • Advising on a finance/refinance involving three companies and multiple properties, raising funds to support both acquisitions and developments.

Our team

This ranking recognises the expertise of our Commercial Property team, co-led by:

  • Rachael Briggs, who has extensive experience managing property portfolios for both occupiers and landlords, particularly in the retail, leisure, and hospitality sectors.
  • Vik Moothia, whose practice covers acquisitions and disposals, leasehold matters, funding, development, and property management.
  • Alison James-Moore, who brings specialist knowledge of refinancing and acts for purchasers and sellers of freehold and leasehold properties and development sites.

We are also thrilled that Alison James-Moore has been individually recognised as a Leading Associate in this year’s rankings, reflecting her significant expertise and strong reputation among clients and peers.

Rachael Briggs, Director and Co-Founder of Landsmiths, commented:

“We are incredibly proud to have retained our Tier 2 ranking in The Legal 500. This recognition is a real testament to the hard work, expertise and dedication of our team. The quality and size of deals that we do is something we are really proud of, particularly as we are a small firm. We’re also delighted to see Alison recognised as a Leading Associate, which reflects the outstanding contribution she makes to our clients and our business. Most importantly, this ranking is based on client feedback, so we would like to thank all of our clients for trusting us with their property matters.”
