On 19 September 2026, the Landsmiths team will be taking on a 13-mile overnight charity walk in support of our Charity of the Year, Sands United FC Nottingham.
The 13-mile walk has been chosen to reflect the important work carried out by Sands United FC Nottingham and to help raise awareness of baby loss, while supporting families across Nottingham and the surrounding area.
Why 13 miles?
Every day in the UK, an average of 13 babies die shortly before, during or soon after birth. These heartbreaking losses are also statistically more likely to happen during the night.
To recognise the families affected by baby loss, our team will be walking 13 miles through the night. We hope the challenge will not only raise vital funds for Sands United FC Nottingham, but also encourage greater awareness of the support available to those experiencing the loss of a baby.
Supporting Sands United FC Nottingham
Sands United FC Nottingham provides a safe and supportive space for men affected by baby loss, using football to bring people together and remind them they are not alone.
Through regular training sessions and matches, they help men connect with others who have experienced similar loss, reducing isolation and creating a community where conversations around grief can happen naturally.
As demand for their support continues to grow, so does the need for funding to help them continue their valuable work across Nottingham.
