Independent property law firm Landsmiths has promoted Commercial Property Solicitor Fiona Thompson-Butler to Associate, recognising her long-standing contribution to the firm.
Fiona has nearly 12 years of experience advising clients on a wide range of commercial property matters, including acquisitions, leases and property finance.

Her promotion marks a significant milestone in a career journey that began with Landsmiths’ founders, Vik Moothia and Rachael Briggs, in 2014 when she joined as a secretary. Fiona went on to begin her training contract in 2020, qualifying as a solicitor in 2022, before progressing to her new role as Associate.
Co-founder Vik Moothia said:
“Fiona’s promotion to Associate is thoroughly deserved. She has been part of our journey for many years and has consistently demonstrated her commitment to both our clients and the firm. Her technical knowledge and ability to build strong relationships make her a valued member of the team, and we are delighted to recognise her achievements with this promotion.”
Co-founder Rachael Briggs added:
“Having seen Fiona develop from her early days with the business through to qualifying as a solicitor and now becoming an Associate, it has been fantastic to watch her progress. She is a trusted adviser to her clients and a great colleague, and we look forward to seeing her continue to grow in her new role.”
Fiona said:
“I’m delighted to have been promoted to Associate. Having worked with Vik and Rachael throughout much of my career, it’s been incredibly rewarding to develop professionally alongside the growth of the firm.”
The promotion reflects Landsmiths’ commitment to recognising and developing talent within the business. Fiona’s progression from secretary to Associate demonstrates Landsmiths continued investment in its people alongside their goal to grow across the East Midlands.
